THE LIFE SCIENCE HEALTH HAVEN (now closed) The Life Science Health Haven is an informal, rustic hotel situated on 69 acres of scenic forest (woodland), in Woodridge, Sullivan County, New York. It is one of the few retreats left today which is almost completely free of noise. The surroundings are those of total tranquility, peace and natural harmony, ideal for meditation and recuperation of mind, body and soul. The loudest sounds are those of the rustling of leaves in breezes and birds singing. Facilities include swimming and boating in our private spring-fed lake, sunbathing, bike-riding, library, scenic trails for hiking, etc. HEALTH RESORT Located 2 miles from Woodridge, The Life Science Health Haven is a unique health resort and retreat which is dedicated to the supervised nutritional rehabilitation and guidance of individuals who are interested in improving the quality of their lives - Where people may come to be cleansed, healed, relaxed, revitalized and rejuvenated on all five levels of existence - mental, physical, spiritual, emotional and psychological. It caters to individual needs. You will learn to develop will-power. Through training you will gain experience in self-control, how to conquer compulsive overeating, how to lose weight rapidly and how to keep it off. Undesirable habits such as smoking, overeating, etc. yield quickly and easily when 100% Natural agents and foods are used. Nervous tension, emotional irritations and uncertainties will evanesce in the clear, restful atmosphere of your surroundings. You will feel that you are adding years to your life, and life to your years. The inspiration gained from meeting others who have succeeded and are achieving their goal can change your life. You will learn how to use the inherent powers you have right in your own body. WEIGHT REDUCTION Special attention is focussed on rapid weight reduction of as much as 10 to 20 pounds per week through proven safe methods, without the use of drugs or medication. The methods employed are fasting, freshly-made vegetable and fruit-juice programs, the finest natural foods (organically grown when available) fresh air, sunshine, light exercise or recreation, etc. - embracing only Nature's own agents. Three meals will be served daily of vegetarian and Natural Hygiene foods. Featured daily will be live or recorded inspirational talks by prominent health teachers and doctors on health subjects. Classes will be held on Hatha Yoga exercises, meditation, and various other subjects. Educational and inspirational health literature is available in our library. The director, Stanley S. Bass, who has attended several colleges and institutes; holds degrees in nutrition and other subjects. He will, if requested, assist you in a program that will enable you to maintain your weight at any level desired, after leaving. HEALTH EDUCATION The Life Science Health Haven is an educational center and retreat, located in the Catskill Mountains, ideally situated in a pristine pure environment, totally free from air and sound pollution. It is a subsidiary of The Life Science which is a philanthropic, non-sectarian, non-profit, tax-exempt organization incorporated in 1977 in the state of New York. The Life Science subscribes to the doctrine that the body is a holy temple and that the spirit of divinity dwells therein. It believes that, from the beginning, the Laws of Life were formulated and structured to operate through Nature and her elements, using air, water, food, herbs, fasting, sleep, exercise, relaxation, sun, earth, inspired thinking and living, etc., in interaction with the body (temple), in sickness and in health, as the method intended by The Creator for humanity to obtain physical, mental and spiritual perfection. In accordance with this belief, the cardinal objective of The Life Science Health Haven is to train and prepare teachers, practitioners, students and guests in the Laws of Life and inspired living according to Nature's plan so that all individuals may attain health, happiness, self-realization and fulfillment. Dr. Bass is always availaile to speak at conventionsor for interested groups. RESIDENTS There are two categories for resident classification at The Life Science Health Haven which are: (1) STUDENT who accepts double occupancy accomodations and is required to work four hours a day doing meal preparation, housework, office work, etc. (2) GUEST who accepts double occupancy with an adjoining bath. Anyone interested in becoming a staff member should first register as a student. The new staff member is accepted dependent upon position openings and personal capabilities and is required to make a six-mont commitment.
